The Housing Crisis Will Take Years to Resolve
The housing crisis will take years to resolve simply because of the amount of time needed to build. This includes the production of construction materials. Finding a location for social housing can be complex too, with residents concerned about the socioeconomic impacts on their neighbourhood.
Solutions need to include novel sustainable approaches. It helps if social housing is planned in all social housing developments. Infrastructure needs can be reduced by building tiny homes. We also need to be creative and consider container homes, prefab houses made of hemp or other sustainable materials like hay or rammed earth.
All dwellings need to make use of passive solar, rainwater tanks, and in my opinion, a decentralised power grid.
